Preschool:
Cross Lutheran School offers a 2 day a week preschool class
for 3-year-old children (on or before of September 1) on
Tuesdays and Thursdays. For families with a child that is 4
years old (on or before September 1), Cross Lutheran School
provides a 3 day a week program on Mondays, Wednesdays, and
Fridays. Both classes start at 8:30 a.m. and end at noon.
Our preschool gives children a foundation in
reading, math, and writing skills. It is geared to provide
skills necessary to be successful in Kindergarten. Daily
activities incorporate play and structured learning activities.
Learning centers provide opportunities for both group and
individual learning experiences. Through a variety of Christ
centered activities, Cross strives to develop the whole child in
a loving Christian environment.
Kindergarten through 8th grade:
Cross Lutheran School provides a formal education for students in
Kindergarten through 8th grade. We are committed to quality Christian education
which calls for a sound academic program that will meet the individual needs of
our students.
In keeping with a Christian philosophy and with respect to the educational
requirements of the state of Texas, our students receive a thorough education in
both Christian living and the following academic areas:
Religion:
Worship, Bible Study, Bible History, Church History, and Memory Work.
Language Arts:
Reading, Phonics, English, Spelling, Literature, and Handwriting.
Mathematics: Number
Usage, Basic Arithmetic in all grades, Number Theory, Pre-Algebra, and
Algebra (where applicable).
Social Studies:
Geography, History, Citizenship, Current Events, and Government.
Science: General
Science, Health & Safety, Physical Science, Earth Science, and Life Science.
Art: Drawing,
Painting, Sculpting, Crafts, and Appreciation.
Music: Theory,
Appreciation, Vocal Choir, and Instrumental Band (grades 5-8).
Physical Education:
Skills, Games, Sports, Physical Fitness, Rhythm, and Recreation.
Co-curricular Activities:
In addition to our regular curricular activities, Cross provides
our student with the opportunity to participate in several co-curricular
activities.
Athletics:
5th-8th grade basketball (both for boys and girls).
Volleyball, for girls in 5th-8th, and track, for boys and girls in 5th-8th
grade, are coming soon!
Yearbook:
Students work with a teacher representative to publish a school yearbook.
Student Government:
Students are involved in planning school activities and service events.
