Cross Lutheran School provides a formal education for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. We are committed to quality Christian education which calls for a sound academic program that will meet the individual needs of our students. Extra-curricular Activities:
In addition to our regular curricular activities, Cross provides our student with the opportunity to participate in several extra-curricular activities.
Kindergarten through 8th grade:
In keeping with a Christian philosophy and with respect to the educational requirements of the state of Texas, our students receive a thorough education in both Christian living and the following academic areas:
Religion: Worship, Bible Study, Bible History, Church History, and Memory Work.
Language Arts: Reading, Phonics, English, Spelling, Literature, and Handwriting.
Mathematics: Number Usage, Basic Arithmetic in all grades, Number Theory, Pre-Algebra, and
Algebra (where applicable).
Social Studies: Geography, History, Citizenship, Current Events, and Government.
Science: General Science, Health & Safety, Physical Science, Earth Science, and Life Science.
Art: Drawing, Painting, Sculpting, Crafts, and Appreciation.
Music: Theory, Appreciation, Vocal Choir, and Instrumental Band (grades 5-8).
Physical Education: Skills, Games, Sports, Physical Fitness, Rhythm, and Recreation.
Athletics:
Basketball for 5th-8th grade boys and girls.
Volleyball for girls in 5th-8th
Cross Country for boys and girls in 5th-8th grade
Football for boys 5th-8th grade.
Tennis for boys and girls 5th-8th grade.
Golf for boys and girls 5th-8th grade.
Band:
Students 5th-8th grade learn concert band instruments. Band students have concerts and perform in competition.
PSIA:
Students 2nd-8th grade compete academically with other private school in areas such as math, prose reading, spelling, etc.
Our school's varied curricular activities seek to assist each child in reaching his/her potential as an individual by focusing on five essential elements:
Spiritual--focusing on Jesus Christ as our Loving Savior
Intellectual--providing the concrete hands-on experience through which a young child learns
Emotional--developing self-esteem, confidence, and independence
Social--building the foundation for interpersonal interaction
Physical--providing physical fitness activities, games, skills, and competitive athletics
